Carney Must Compromise
Canada has a new federal government - and it's a case of meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
And with both the Bloc Québécois and the NDP eager to push Canada even further to the left, this government could easily last 12 to 18 months or more.
Unless Alberta pushes back immediately, we could see more federal overreach, more economic damage, and even less respect for Alberta and the West than we’ve seen in the past few years.
During the campaign, the Liberals tried to soften their image.
They made vague promises about “reconciling with the West” and “building Canada into an energy superpower.”
But now that the election is over and they’ve just about clung to power, those promises are already at risk of being discarded.
This is why Alberta must act - and act now.
We’re calling on the Liberal government to prove they meant what they said during the campaign.
Reconciliation with the West shouldn't be just a slogan.
It’s a commitment that must be backed up with real policy changes that reflect Alberta’s priorities and restore fairness to the federation.
Let’s not forget - the Liberals didn’t win a majority, and they certainly didn’t win in the West.
If Prime Minister Carney wants to build trust, preserve national unity, and prove that his government governs for all Canadians, not just central Canada, he must be willing to compromise.
And he can start by implementing the reforms that we've been pushing for at the Free Alberta Strategy for years:
- Repeal the ban on pipelines and tankers off the coast
- Scrap the oil and gas production cap
- Abolish, not just pause, the consumer carbon tax
- Pledge not to hike the industrial carbon tax to compensate
- Cancel the Clean Electricity Regulations
These aren’t radical demands.
They’re the minimum necessary to restore fairness to the federation, respect Alberta’s economy, and meet the promises Carney made during the campaign.
Albertans have been more than patient.
Now it’s time for Ottawa to finally listen.
If Prime Minister Carney truly wants to lead a government that serves all Canadians - not just voters in Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa - then he must prove it.
If he refuses, who knows what happens next?
Please sign our petition calling on Prime Minister Mark Carney to compromise, and make good on his promises during the campaign.

It sounds like Carney will bring in more immigrants so this is what I say to that. If we are to take them then train them in oil and gas and do away with the Atlantic provinces working here in Alberta as they voted completely Liberal and yet their livelihood is paid by Albertans.
I know it takes three years to even try and separate, but let’s go to court and rush it or delay the courts just as the Liberal government has done for years. With Northern BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and half of Manitoba let’s just separate and see what they can do about it.
Canada is going to sink itself…let’s get out and look after ourselves. We are not appreciated for all our money to keep the rest all of Canada afloat so cut the ties now!
I am proud to be a Canadian, but at this point only in Western Canada. I want nothing to do with the USA either. Let’s stand alone.
Danielle Smith is great at what she does so she can reach out to China for as they probably would have a relationship with us as Western Canada. They don’t want anything to do with the Liberals or the East.
We need to be the strong West and not sink with the arrogant, selfish and criminal Liberals in the East and Atlantic.
Stand strong Alberta and any in the West that want to join!!
